BADGE, a solid copper double die struck with silver-plated antique finish Western Atlantic R.R. Confederate States of America badge that is a shield with a raised train. The badge measures 2 inches wide and has the clasp on the back to pin to a shirt. This Southern railroad became a troop and supply carrier and major transport for the Confederate states during the war between the North and South. It provided the only practical link for getting troops and supplies from the East to the West. The terms "Western" and "Atlantic" seem at odds until you consider that West would be the main direction of travel from the Atlantic coast.
