Watt Pottery Rooster #15 Pitcher
OVEN WARE USA, a beautiful reproduction Watt Pottery Rooster #15 pitcher. The pitcher has the Rooster in grass pattern and is marked on the bottom "Oven Ware USA 15" very lightly. The pitcher measures 5 1/4 inches to the top of the spout and is about 4 inches at the widest point. It is white in color. The Watt family resided in Perry County, Ohio. In July of 1922 they started business on the site of the old Burley Pottery in Crooksville, Ohio. It remained in business until a fire halted production in 1965. They began to hand decorate their wares In 1949. To keep production costs low these patterns are simple in nature with as few brush strokes as possible. The hand decorated patterns most sought after by today's collectors and their introduction dates are as follows: Starflower - 1951, Apple - 1952, Cherry - 1952, Silhouette - 1953, Rooster - 1955, Dutch Tulip - 1956, American Red Bud (Tear Drop) - 1957, Morning Glory - 1958, Autumn Foliage - 1959, Double Apple - 1959, and Tulip - 1961.
