Western Texas Rangers Metal Gun Butt Tag

GUN BUTT GRIP TAG, a solid metal with "Texas Rangers" and the cut-out star in a circle. It is curved with four mounting holes and an antique finish. Shaped to be attached to a curved wood gun grip. It measures 1 1/2 inches long and 1 1/2 inches wide. Texas Ranger lore dates the first rangers to 1823, when Stephen F. Austin employed ten men to act as rangers to protect 600 to 700 newly settled families who arrived in Texas following the Mexican War of Independence.
