Small Glass Advertising Counter Jar Milk Maid Candies
COUNTER JAR, that is a replica of an advertising piece. The jar is a small heavy clear glass counter jar with glass lid & plastic seal. The front has "Milk Maid Candies" in the center of a cow and "Wholesome! Delicious! Nutrious!" and "Made on the Farm". The counter jar measures 6 inches tall and 4 1/4 inches wide. Emil J. Brach originally worked for another candy company in Chicago. While there he spent years saving up $15,000 to open his own candy factory. Unfortunately, the factory was a failure and he lost his entire savings. In 1904, Brach decided to try again and opened his first candy shop. This shop would prove to be a huge success. The first product was the Milk Maid caramels, still in production today.
