Sheriff Tombstone Arizona Territory Brass Badge
SHERIFF BADGE, a solid brass old west Sheriff Tombstone Arizona Territory badge with a grave stone and "Tombstone" on it. The badge is a large star measuring 3 inches wide and 3 1/2 inches tall. It is solid brass with an antique finish and a pin on the back. Silver prospectors flocked to the Arizona Territory in 1877 when a prospector by the name of Ed Schieffelin found silver. He had been told all he would find out in the desert was his tombstone. Therefore, he named his first silver mine Tombstone. The town that was then formed by the rush of prospectors was also named Tombstone after his first mine claim.
