San Quentin Guard Death Row Brass Badge

GUARD BADGE, a solid brass old west San Quentin Guard Death Row badge. The badge is a large star measuring 3 inches wide and 3 1/2 inches tall. It is solid brass with an antique finish and a pin on the back. Opened in July 1852, it is the oldest prison in the state of California. California's only death row for male inmates, the largest in the United States, is located at the prison. It has a gas chamber, but since 1996 executions have been carried out by lethal injections.
