Rough Rider Cavalry Belt Buckle

ROUGH RIDER, a solid brass buckle with antique finish. There are 3 raised horses and around the edge is "Seventh Cavalry Rough Rider". The buckle has a bar and prong in back and is stamped with a makers mark reading "Manufactured by J. Purdy Ford St. London W England". It measures 2 1/2 inches wide. The "Rough Riders" was the name bestowed on the 1st United States Volunteer Cavalry, one of three such regiments raised in 1898 for the Spanish American War and the only one of the three to see action.
