Orphan Boy Smoking Tobacco Paper Advertising Sign
ADVERTISING SIGN a nice reprint of a cardboard tobacco advertisement sign. The sign is a cardboard stock paper and it reads "Orphan Boy Smoking Tobacco" and "Fine Carolina Made By John Weisert Tob.Co. St. Louis, MO." It is a cut-out of a tobacco pouch with a donkey on the front. The top has a metal hole for hanging and measures 11 1/2 inches across and is 17 inches tall. It has some browning on the edges and back for an aged appearance. Tobacco was the first crop grown for money in North America. In 1612, the settlers of Jamestown grew tobacco as a cash crop.
