MARSHAL BADGE, a solid copper double die struck with silverplated antique finish Marshal Pecos Texas badge that is round with a cut out star in a circle. The badge measures 1 3/4 inches wide and has the clasp on the back to pin to a shirt. Gunfighter Clay Allison had arranged to fight a duel in a grave with another man using Bowie knives. The Marshal of Pecos, Texas lay ready to prevent this grisly contest when word came that Allison had been killed. Apparently in route to the contest he fell out of a wagon and his neck was broken when the wagon's wheel rolled over it.
