Doc Holliday Western Lawman Gun Knife
WESTERN KNIFE, a neat knife that looks like a gun. It is heavy well built knife with a stainless steel blade. It can be cocked to pull the knife out and then released the same way to fold back down. The knife is engraved on the blade with "John Henry "Doc" Holliday 1851-1886" and the handle has his photo. It measures 7 3/4 inches long when open and is 3/4 of an inch wide. Doc graduated from Pennsylvania College of Dental Surgery in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on March 1, 1872. Shortly after starting into his practice, he discovered that he was ill. The diagnosis was tuberculosis. Given a short time to live, one doctor told him that a move to a dryer climate wold surely prolong his life so he moved to Texas where he would practice for a short time. The hacking cough that came with the tuberculosis would erupt in the middle of his treating a patient, and his practice, a new one at that, soon had hardly any patients. During this lowpoint he became and gambler and in doing so learned to protect himself.
