Coca Cola Serving Coke Tray
COKE TRAY, a Coca Cola tray showing "Tarzan" star Johnny Weissmuller and Maureen O'Sullivan holding a bottle of Coke. This tray is marked "Coca Cola Co. 1934" in the red line to the top left of the Drink Coca-Cola on the bottom of the tray. The tray also is marked to the right of the picture "Maureen O'Sullivan And Johnny Weissmuller Metro Goldwyn Mayer Featured Players". The original old tray is exactly like this one except the color is different on the back. This tray was made in the 1970's from the original tray and is not stamped copy or reproduction anywhere on the tray. The tray measures 13 1/2" long and 10 1/2" wide. Beginning around 1900, Coca-Cola began manufacturing metal tin-plate serving and change trays, initially round and oval, and later rectangular. The trays primarily portrayed women, and often the images were the same ones used on the previous year’s calendars and other advertising. Most trays from the 1920's had a green and brown border, and those from the 1930's had red borders.
