Cast Iron Sheriff's Office Lincoln County New Mexico Sign

SIGN, a cast iron sign with a rusty antique finish and white painted letters that read "Sheriff's Office Pat Garrett Lincoln County New Mexico Territory". The sign is 8 1/4 inches long and is 2 3/4 inches wide. On November 7, 1880, Garrett was appointed Lincoln County Sheriff. He would take the place of sheriff George Kimbell, who resigned with two months left in his term. His first goal was to take care of Billy the Kid.
