Cast Iron Remington Ammunition Factory Lock

REMINGTON LOCK, a heavy duty cast iron lock with an antique finish. It comes with 2 keys and a brass tag with "Remington Ammunition Factory" It measures 3 inches wide and 5 inches tall. The legend has it that a young Eliphalet Remington II believed he could build a better gun than he could buy, so he went to his father's forge to make such a gun. In the autumn of 1816 he entered that gun in a shooting match and while he only finished second the gun was a success. He was soon taking orders for the Flintlock Rifle.
