Cast Iron Beware Of Dog Yard Garden Sign Plaque

SIGN, a cast iron sign with a rusty antique finish painted white with black lettering and reads "Beware of the Dog". The sign is 6 3/4 inches long and is 3 1/2 inches wide. These types of warnings have been found as far back as the House of the Tragic Poet in Pompeii where there is a mosaic with "cave canem". Some believe they may have been a warning to prevent small delicate dogs from being stepped upon.
