Tombstone Founded in the Arizona Territory

Prospector Ed Schieffelin discovered Tombstone, Arizona, along with a vein of silver, in the summer of 1877. He later filed his claim for the silver vein naming it "The Tombstone" due to a  soldiers prediction about his fate. Upon telling the soldier of his rock hunting adventures the soldier then advised him that "the only rock he was likely to collect among the waterless hills and warring Apaches of the area would be his own tombstone."  The town of Tombstone was then founded in 1879 and the legend of this old West boomtown can still be heard echoing today.
